Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) Guidance

What is SSC JHT?

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Hindi Translators Examination (JHT/CHT) for recruitment to various Hindi Translator and related translation posts in different Ministries, Departments and Organizations of the Government of India.

The examination assesses candidates mainly in General Hindi, General English, Translation and Essay writing. Depending on the post and the applicable SSC notification, candidates are required to meet prescribed educational qualifications and other eligibility conditions.

Posts Under SSC JHT

Junior Translation Officer

Hindi and English translation work in Central Government Ministries, Departments and Organizations, as applicable to the post.

Junior Translator

Translation of official documents and related language work between Hindi and English.

Junior Hindi Translator

Hindi translation and official language-related duties in the concerned Government organization.

Senior Hindi Translator

Senior-level Hindi translation and official language work, wherever the post is included in the applicable examination.

Eligibility

Requirement	General Information
Educational Qualification	Master’s degree from a recognized University in Hindi or English, with the prescribed Hindi/English subject or medium combination as specified by SSC.
Translation Qualification	Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa, or the prescribed translation work experience, as applicable to the post.
Age	18 to 30 years as on 01-08-2026. Candidates must have been born not before 02-08-1996 and not later than 01-08-2008.
Age Relaxation	Age relaxation is available to eligible categories such as SC/ST, OBC, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen as per Government rules and the SSC notification.
Nationality	Candidate must satisfy the nationality/citizenship conditions prescribed by SSC, including applicable provisions for citizens of India and other eligible categories.

Eligibility requirements vary by post. Candidates should carefully check the latest SSC Combined Hindi Translators Examination notification before applying.

Paper-I is an Objective Type Computer Based Examination with 0.25 marks negative marking for each wrong answer. Paper-I has a sectional timer of 1 hour for each part. Paper-II is a Descriptive Paper consisting of Translation and Essay. Candidates eligible for use of a scribe are provided additional time as per SSC rules.

Paper I — General Hindi & General English

Paper II — Translation & Essay

Language & Grammar	Focus on correct grammar, vocabulary, spelling, sentence formation and appropriate language usage in both Hindi and English.
Essay Structure	Practise writing essays in a logical structure consisting of Introduction, Main Content and Conclusion.
Practice	Practise previous year papers, translation passages and regular Hindi-English and English-Hindi writing.

Paper-II is a Descriptive Paper consisting of Translation and Essay. Candidates should practise both Hindi-to-English and English-to-Hindi translation along with essay writing in Hindi and English.

Paper-I carries 200 marks and Paper-II carries 200 marks. The total marks of the two written papers are 400. Paper-I has negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

Selection Process

Paper-I

Computer-Based Examination consisting of General Hindi and General English.

Paper-II

Descriptive Examination consisting of Translation and Essay.

Paper-I Qualification

Candidates must qualify Paper-I as per the applicable SSC rules and cut-off criteria.

Paper-II Evaluation

Paper-II is evaluated for candidates who qualify Paper-I according to the applicable examination rules.

Document Verification

Eligible candidates undergo document verification as required by SSC and the concerned department.

Final Selection

Final selection is made according to the applicable SSC rules, merit, vacancies, eligibility and other prescribed conditions.

SSC JHT/CHT क्या है?

SSC JHT/CHT एक Staff Selection Commission (SSC) द्वारा आयोजित भर्ती परीक्षा है, जिसके माध्यम से केंद्र सरकार के विभिन्न मंत्रालयों, विभागों और संगठनों में Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translation Officer और संबंधित Hindi Translator पदों के लिए योग्य उम्मीदवारों का चयन किया जाता है।

इस परीक्षा में Hindi और English language proficiency, translation skills तथा descriptive writing ability का परीक्षण किया जाता है। परीक्षा में Computer-Based Paper-I और Descriptive Paper-II शामिल होते हैं।

उम्मीदवारों को परीक्षा की तैयारी करते समय General Hindi, General English, Hindi-to-English Translation, English-to-Hindi Translation तथा Essay Writing पर विशेष ध्यान देना चाहिए।

पात्रता (Eligibility)

पात्रता	विवरण
आयु सीमा	01 अगस्त 2026 को उम्मीदवार की आयु 18 से 30 वर्ष के बीच होनी चाहिए। अर्थात उम्मीदवार का जन्म 02 अगस्त 1996 से पहले और 01 अगस्त 2008 के बाद का नहीं होना चाहिए।
शैक्षणिक योग्यता	मान्यता प्राप्त विश्वविद्यालय से Hindi या English में Master's Degree, अथवा SSC की notification में निर्धारित अन्य स्वीकार्य Master's Degree combinations में से कोई एक आवश्यक है।
Translation Qualification	Hindi से English और English से Hindi में Translation का मान्यता प्राप्त Diploma/Certificate Course या Central/State Government Office में दोनों भाषाओं के बीच Translation का निर्धारित अनुभव आवश्यक है।
अनुभव	जहाँ लागू हो, Hindi से English और English से Hindi Translation का आवश्यक सरकारी अनुभव होना चाहिए। Junior-level posts के लिए notification में 2 वर्ष का अनुभव निर्धारित किया गया है।
नागरिकता	उम्मीदवार भारत का नागरिक होना चाहिए। Notification में Nepal, Bhutan तथा कुछ निर्धारित परिस्थितियों में अन्य निर्दिष्ट श्रेणियों के उम्मीदवारों के लिए भी पात्रता का प्रावधान है, बशर्ते आवश्यक eligibility certificate उपलब्ध हो।
आयु में छूट	SC/ST, OBC, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen तथा notification में निर्धारित अन्य श्रेणियों के उम्मीदवारों को सरकारी नियमों के अनुसार ऊपरी आयु सीमा में छूट दी जाती है।
दस्तावेज	उम्मीदवार को अपनी शैक्षणिक योग्यता, जन्मतिथि, category और अन्य लागू दावों के समर्थन में आवश्यक प्रमाण-पत्र प्रस्तुत करने होते हैं।

महत्वपूर्ण: JHT/CHT की पात्रता post के अनुसार अलग हो सकती है। आवेदन करने से पहले SSC की नवीनतम official notification में संबंधित post की educational qualification, translation qualification/experience और age requirements अवश्य जांचें।

महत्वपूर्ण नोट: Paper-I Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions पर आधारित है, जबकि Paper-II Descriptive Paper है। Paper-II में Translation और Essay शामिल होते हैं। Paper-I में गलत उत्तर के लिए 0.25 अंक की negative marking है। Paper-II के लिए shortlisting और आगे की प्रक्रिया SSC की नवीनतम notification में निर्धारित नियमों के अनुसार होती है।

नोट: परीक्षा पैटर्न, qualifying marks, cut-off, shortlisting criteria और अन्य नियम समय-समय पर SSC द्वारा बदले जा सकते हैं। इसलिए उम्मीदवारों को हमेशा SSC की नवीनतम official notification को अंतिम और प्रामाणिक स्रोत मानना चाहिए।

Paper-I — सामान्य हिंदी एवं सामान्य अंग्रेजी

सामान्य हिंदी	हिंदी भाषा और व्याकरण से संबंधित Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions पूछे जाते हैं। इसमें भाषा की समझ, शब्दावली, व्याकरण, वाक्य संरचना तथा सही भाषा-प्रयोग जैसे विषयों की तैयारी करें।
सामान्य अंग्रेजी	English language और grammar से संबंधित Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions पूछे जाते हैं। इसमें vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, comprehension तथा correct usage पर ध्यान दें।
कुल प्रश्न	Paper-I में कुल 200 प्रश्न होते हैं — General Hindi के 100 प्रश्न और General English के 100 प्रश्न।
कुल अंक	Paper-I कुल 200 अंकों का होता है। General Hindi 100 अंक और General English 100 अंक के होते हैं।

Negative Marking	प्रत्येक गलत उत्तर के लिए 0.25 अंक की negative marking लागू होती है।

महत्वपूर्ण नोट: Paper-I केवल General Hindi और General English पर आधारित है। इसमें General Studies, Engineering Aptitude या किसी Engineering Branch का Paper नहीं होता।

तैयारी सुझाव: उम्मीदवारों को Hindi और English grammar, vocabulary, comprehension तथा language usage की नियमित practice करनी चाहिए। Previous Year Questions और mock tests के माध्यम से speed और accuracy पर भी ध्यान दें।

सामान्य हिंदी — मुख्य विषय

मुहावरे एवं लोकोक्तियाँ	प्रमुख मुहावरों और लोकोक्तियों के अर्थ तथा वाक्य में उनके सही प्रयोग का अध्ययन।
वाक्य शुद्धि	अशुद्ध वाक्यों की पहचान, वाक्य सुधार तथा व्याकरण संबंधी त्रुटियों का अभ्यास।
शुद्ध वर्तनी	सही वर्तनी, अशुद्ध शब्दों की पहचान तथा शब्दों के सही रूप का अभ्यास।
गद्यांश	गद्यांश को समझना, मुख्य विचार पहचानना, तथ्य एवं निष्कर्ष समझना तथा passage-based questions हल करना।
शब्द प्रयोग	संदर्भ के अनुसार उपयुक्त शब्दों का चयन और भाषा के सही प्रयोग का अभ्यास।
भाषा की समझ	हिंदी भाषा की समझ, व्याकरणिक शुद्धता और प्रभावी भाषा-प्रयोग को मजबूत करना।

महत्वपूर्ण नोट: SSC JHT/CHT में Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering या अन्य Engineering subjects नहीं होते। Paper-I में General Hindi और General English का परीक्षण किया जाता है।

सामान्य अंग्रेजी — मुख्य विषय

अनुवाद — मुख्य विषय

व्याकरण	हिंदी और अंग्रेजी दोनों भाषाओं में सही व्याकरण, वाक्य निर्माण, वर्तनी और उचित भाषा-प्रयोग।
वाक्य संरचना	अनुवाद करते समय स्पष्ट, स्वाभाविक और व्याकरण की दृष्टि से सही वाक्यों का निर्माण।
संदर्भ एवं अर्थ	मूल गद्यांश के संदर्भ, भाव और उद्देश्य को समझकर उसी अर्थ को दूसरी भाषा में सही रूप से प्रस्तुत करना।

निबंध — मुख्य विषय

हिंदी निबंध	दिए गए विषय पर स्पष्ट विचार, उचित शब्दावली, सही व्याकरण, तार्किक प्रस्तुति और प्रभावी निष्कर्ष के साथ निबंध लेखन।
अंग्रेजी निबंध	दिए गए विषय पर स्पष्ट विचार, उचित vocabulary, सही grammar, logical presentation और effective conclusion के साथ essay writing।
समसामयिक विषय	राष्ट्रीय एवं अंतरराष्ट्रीय घटनाएँ, सरकारी योजनाएँ, शिक्षा, रोजगार, अर्थव्यवस्था, विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी तथा सामाजिक विषय।
सामाजिक मुद्दे	महिला सशक्तिकरण, गरीबी, शिक्षा, स्वास्थ्य, सामाजिक समानता, युवा और रोजगार जैसे विषय।
पर्यावरण	जलवायु परिवर्तन, प्रदूषण, पर्यावरण संरक्षण, सतत विकास और प्राकृतिक संसाधनों से संबंधित विषय।
विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी	Artificial Intelligence, Digital Technology, Space Technology, Cyber Security और आधुनिक तकनीकी विकास जैसे विषय।
शासन एवं प्रशासन	सरकारी नीतियाँ, योजनाएँ, सुशासन, Digital India, प्रशासन और नागरिक सेवाओं से संबंधित विषय।
निबंध संरचना	Introduction, Main Content, उदाहरण/तर्क और Conclusion को उचित एवं तार्किक क्रम में प्रस्तुत करना।
लेखन अभ्यास	समय सीमा के अंदर हिंदी और अंग्रेजी दोनों में नियमित निबंध लेखन तथा पिछले वर्षों के विषयों की practice करना।

महत्वपूर्ण नोट: SSC JHT/CHT में Electronics & Telecommunication या किसी Engineering branch का कोई विषय नहीं होता। निबंध Paper-II के Descriptive Examination का हिस्सा है।

NCERT Books — Supplementary Study Material

Class 6–10	Social Science	सामान्य ज्ञान और विषयों की basic understanding विकसित करने के लिए supplementary reading के रूप में।
Class 11–12	Hindi / English	भाषा की समझ, reading ability और writing skills को बेहतर बनाने के लिए चयनित chapters पढ़े जा सकते हैं।

महत्वपूर्ण नोट: NCERT Books SSC JHT/CHT का prescribed syllabus या officially recommended book list नहीं हैं। इनका उपयोग केवल supplementary study material के रूप में किया जा सकता है। JHT/CHT की मुख्य तैयारी SSC द्वारा निर्धारित syllabus, previous year papers और standard preparation books के अनुसार करें।

चयन प्रक्रिया

Paper-I

Computer-Based Examination में General Hindi और General English के Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions होते हैं।

Paper-I से Shortlisting

Paper-I में प्रदर्शन के आधार पर निर्धारित cut-off और SSC के लागू नियमों के अनुसार उम्मीदवारों को Paper-II के लिए shortlist किया जाता है।

Paper-II

Shortlisted candidates का Descriptive Paper-II होता है, जिसमें Translation और Essay शामिल होते हैं।

Document Verification

उम्मीदवारों के आवश्यक educational, category और अन्य applicable documents की verification की जाती है।

Final Merit

Final selection SSC द्वारा निर्धारित merit, cut-off, vacancies, eligibility और लागू examination rules के अनुसार किया जाता है।

Final Allocation

योग्य उम्मीदवारों को उपलब्ध vacancies और SSC द्वारा निर्धारित applicable rules के अनुसार संबंधित post/department के लिए allocation किया जाता है।

महत्वपूर्ण नोट: JHT/CHT की selection process में Interview का प्रावधान नहीं है। उम्मीदवारों को Paper-I, Paper-II और document verification से संबंधित latest SSC instructions को ध्यान से पढ़ना चाहिए।

तैयारी की रणनीति

परीक्षा पैटर्न समझें

सबसे पहले Paper-I और Paper-II का pattern, syllabus, marks, negative marking और समय-सीमा अच्छी तरह समझें।

सामान्य हिंदी मजबूत करें

Hindi Grammar, Vocabulary, वर्तनी, वाक्य शुद्धि, मुहावरे, शब्द प्रयोग और comprehension की नियमित तैयारी करें।

General English पर ध्यान दें

English Grammar, Vocabulary, Sentence Structure, Spelling, Comprehension, Error Detection और सही language usage का अभ्यास करें।

Translation की नियमित Practice

Hindi-to-English और English-to-Hindi passages का नियमित translation करें। Meaning, context, grammar और natural sentence formation पर विशेष ध्यान दें।

Essay Writing का अभ्यास

Hindi और English दोनों में नियमित essays लिखें। Introduction, Main Content, examples/arguments और Conclusion को सही क्रम में प्रस्तुत करने की आदत बनाएं।

Previous Year Papers हल करें

SSC JHT/CHT के previous year papers को नियमित रूप से हल करें ताकि question pattern, difficulty level और अपनी कमजोरियों का पता चल सके।

Mock Tests दें

समय-सीमा में mock tests और practice sets हल करें। हर test के बाद गलत प्रश्नों का analysis और revision जरूर करें।

Revision और Vocabulary

प्रतिदिन नए शब्द, महत्वपूर्ण grammar rules, translation mistakes और frequently used expressions को revise करें।

Time Management

Paper-I में speed और accuracy दोनों पर ध्यान दें तथा Paper-II के translation और essay tasks को निर्धारित समय में पूरा करने का अभ्यास करें।

महत्वपूर्ण नोट: तैयारी के दौरान SSC की नवीनतम official notification और syllabus को आधार बनाएं। किसी भी पुराने syllabus, book या preparation material को latest official information से cross-check किए बिना final न मानें।

आम तौर पर आवश्यक दस्तावेज

10वीं कक्षा का प्रमाण-पत्र	जन्मतिथि और मैट्रिकुलेशन संबंधी विवरण के प्रमाण के लिए।
शैक्षणिक योग्यता के प्रमाण-पत्र	Master's Degree, marksheets तथा JHT/CHT post के लिए निर्धारित educational qualification के प्रमाण के रूप में।
Translation Qualification / Experience Certificate	जहाँ संबंधित post के लिए लागू हो, निर्धारित Translation qualification या आवश्यक Translation experience के प्रमाण के लिए।
वैध फोटो पहचान-पत्र	पहचान सत्यापन के लिए वैध Photo ID और उससे संबंधित विवरण।
जाति प्रमाण-पत्र	SC/ST/OBC आदि category का लाभ लेने वाले उम्मीदवारों के लिए, जहाँ लागू हो।
PwBD प्रमाण-पत्र	Persons with Benchmark Disabilities के उम्मीदवारों के लिए, जहाँ लागू हो।
आयु में छूट से संबंधित प्रमाण-पत्र	यदि उम्मीदवार किसी ऐसी category में आता है जिसके लिए upper age relaxation का दावा किया जा रहा है, तो संबंधित प्रमाण-पत्र आवश्यक हो सकता है।
अन्य आवश्यक प्रमाण-पत्र	SSC की latest notification और Document Verification instructions के अनुसार अन्य आवश्यक documents, certificates या declarations।

महत्वपूर्ण नोट: Documents की exact requirement post, category और candidate के किए गए claims के अनुसार अलग हो सकती है। उम्मीदवारों को SSC की नवीनतम JHT/CHT notification और Document Verification instructions के अनुसार ही original documents तथा उनकी आवश्यक copies तैयार रखनी चाहिए।
