What is IBPS SO?

IBPS Specialist Officer (SO) is a national-level banking recruitment examination conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) for recruitment to Specialist Officer posts in participating public sector banks.

The recruitment is conducted through the Common Recruitment Process (CRP-SPL) for specialist posts such as IT Officer, Agricultural Field Officer, Rajbhasha Adhikari, Law Officer, HR/Personnel Officer and Marketing Officer, as prescribed in the applicable IBPS notification.

Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria	Details
Nationality / Citizenship	The candidate must satisfy the nationality/citizenship conditions prescribed in the latest official IBPS CRP-SPL notification.
Age Limit	The candidate must generally be between 20 and 30 years of age, subject to the cut-off date and conditions prescribed in the latest IBPS SO notification. Age relaxation is applicable to eligible reserved categories as per Government and IBPS rules.
Educational Qualification	The candidate must possess the required educational qualification for the particular Specialist Officer post applied for. The qualification varies according to the specialist discipline such as IT Officer, Agricultural Field Officer, Rajbhasha Adhikari, Law Officer, HR/Personnel Officer and Marketing Officer.
IT Officer	Relevant qualification in Computer Science, Computer Applications, Information Technology, Electronics, Electronics & Communication or another prescribed related discipline, as specified in the latest notification.
Agricultural Field Officer	Four-year degree in Agriculture or a prescribed related agricultural discipline such as Horticulture, Veterinary Science, Dairy Science, Animal Husbandry, Agricultural Engineering, Food Technology, Biotechnology or other eligible disciplines mentioned in the notification.
Rajbhasha Adhikari	Post Graduate degree in Hindi with English as a subject at the degree level, or Post Graduate degree in Sanskrit with Hindi and English as subjects at the degree level, subject to the conditions prescribed by IBPS.
Law Officer	A Bachelor Degree in Law (LL.B.) and enrolment as an advocate with the Bar Council, or other qualification/conditions prescribed in the latest IBPS SO notification.
HR / Personnel Officer	Graduate degree along with a prescribed full-time Post Graduate degree or diploma in Human Resource Management, Personnel Management, Industrial Relations, Labour Law or another eligible related discipline as specified by IBPS.
Marketing Officer	Graduate degree along with a prescribed full-time MBA/PGDBM/PGDM or equivalent qualification with specialisation in Marketing, as specified in the applicable IBPS SO notification.
Educational Qualification Date	The required qualification must have been obtained by the date specified in the applicable IBPS SO notification. Candidates should carefully verify the exact qualification and passing-date requirements before applying.
Age Relaxation	Eligible candidates belonging to categories such as SC/ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, Ex-Servicemen and other specified categories may receive relaxation in the upper age limit according to applicable Government and IBPS rules.
Category Requirements	Candidates claiming reservation, age relaxation or any other applicable benefit must possess valid certificates and supporting documents in the prescribed format.
Other Requirements	The candidate must satisfy all other conditions prescribed in the latest IBPS CRP-SPL notification, including educational qualification, age, nationality, document verification and other recruitment requirements.

Important Note: The IBPS SO Preliminary Examination pattern differs according to the Specialist Officer post. For IT Officer, Agriculture Field Officer, HR/Personnel Officer and Marketing Officer, the Preliminary Examination consists of English Language, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and Professional Knowledge. For Law Officer and Rajbhasha Adhikari, General Awareness with Special Reference to Banking Industry is conducted instead of Quantitative Aptitude.

Main Examination: For IT Officer, Agriculture Field Officer, HR/Personnel Officer and Marketing Officer, the Main Examination consists of English Language, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, Professional Knowledge — Objective and a Descriptive Paper in English. For Law Officer, General Awareness with Special Reference to Banking Industry replaces Quantitative Aptitude, while the Descriptive Paper is in English. For Rajbhasha Adhikari, the Descriptive Paper is based on Professional Knowledge.

Professional Knowledge: Professional Knowledge is an important component of both the Preliminary and Main Examination under CRP-SPL-XVI. Candidates must prepare the post-specific Professional Knowledge syllabus according to the Specialist Officer post applied for.

Negative Marking: There is a penalty of one-fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to a question for each wrong answer in the objective tests. No marks are deducted for questions that are left unanswered.

Interview: Candidates shortlisted after the Online Main Examination are called for the Interview. The Interview carries 100 marks. The minimum qualifying marks are 40% for General/EWS candidates and 35% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates, as prescribed in the notification.

Final Merit: The final combined score is prepared using the Online Main Examination and Interview in the prescribed ratio of 80:20 respectively. Candidates must qualify both the Main Examination and Interview and rank sufficiently high in merit for provisional allotment.

Candidates who qualify the Online Main Examination and are shortlisted according to the applicable IBPS rules are called for the Interview. The Interview assesses the candidate's professional knowledge, suitability, communication skills, awareness and overall suitability for the Specialist Officer post.

Candidates must produce the prescribed original documents and self-attested copies at the Interview / Document Verification stage. These documents are used to verify educational qualification, age, category, identity and other eligibility conditions.

The relative weightage of the Online Main Examination and Interview is 80:20. The combined final score is prepared using the applicable Main Examination score and Interview score.

Professional Knowledge: CRP-SPL-XVI के अंतर्गत Professional Knowledge प्रारंभिक और मुख्य परीक्षा का एक महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा है। उम्मीदवारों को अपने Specialist Officer पद के अनुसार निर्धारित Professional Knowledge syllabus की तैयारी करनी चाहिए।

IBPS SO साक्षात्कार एवं अंतिम चयन

1. साक्षात्कार (Interview)

Online Main Examination में निर्धारित योग्यता प्राप्त करने और लागू IBPS नियमों के अनुसार shortlist होने वाले उम्मीदवारों को Interview के लिए बुलाया जाता है। Interview में उम्मीदवार के Professional Knowledge, पद के लिए suitability, communication skills, awareness और Specialist Officer पद के लिए overall suitability का आकलन किया जाता है।

2. दस्तावेज़ सत्यापन

उम्मीदवारों को Interview / Document Verification के समय निर्धारित original documents और self-attested copies प्रस्तुत करनी होती हैं। इन दस्तावेज़ों के माध्यम से educational qualification, age, category, identity और अन्य eligibility conditions का सत्यापन किया जाता है।

Online Main Examination और Interview का relative weightage 80:20 होता है। Combined final score लागू Main Examination score और Interview score के आधार पर तैयार किया जाता है।

Final merit में पर्याप्त उच्च स्थान प्राप्त करने वाले उम्मीदवारों को merit, vacancies, preferences और लागू IBPS rules के अनुसार participating banks में provisional allotment के लिए consider किया जाता है।

6. Joining एवं Appointment

Provisional allotment और आवश्यक verification तथा अन्य formalities पूरी होने के बाद allotted bank अपने लागू नियमों और requirements के अनुसार appointment एवं joining की प्रक्रिया पूरी करता है।

महत्वपूर्ण नोट: IBPS SO का final selection Preliminary Examination के marks के आधार पर नहीं होता। Preliminary Examination का उपयोग Main Examination के लिए candidates को shortlist करने के लिए किया जाता है। उम्मीदवारों को निर्धारित Main Examination और Interview की qualifying requirements पूरी करनी होती हैं। Online Main Examination और Interview का relative weightage final combined score तैयार करने के लिए 80:20 होता है। उम्मीदवारों को exact qualifying criteria, merit और allotment procedure के लिए हमेशा नवीनतम CRP-SPL notification को देखना चाहिए।

चयन प्रक्रिया

IBPS Specialist Officer (SO) भर्ती, Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) द्वारा Participating Public Sector Banks के लिए Common Recruitment Process for Specialist Officers (CRP-SPL) के माध्यम से आयोजित की जाती है। उम्मीदवारों को आवेदन किए गए Specialist Officer Post के लिए नवीनतम Official IBPS Notification को ध्यानपूर्वक देखना चाहिए, जिसमें Eligibility, Age Limit, Educational और Professional Qualification, Vacancies, Examination Pattern, Selection Process और अन्य लागू Conditions शामिल होती हैं।

Preliminary Examination का आयोजन उम्मीदवारों को Main Examination के लिए Shortlist करने के उद्देश्य से किया जाता है। Preliminary Examination का Pattern Specialist Officer Post के अनुसार अलग-अलग हो सकता है। लागू Preliminary Examination Requirements को पूरा करने वाले उम्मीदवारों को Main Examination के लिए Shortlist किया जाता है, जिसमें Post के अनुसार निर्धारित Professional Knowledge Test और अन्य लागू Sections शामिल होते हैं।

Main Examination में सफल होने वाले और लागू Shortlisting Requirements को पूरा करने वाले उम्मीदवारों को Interview के लिए बुलाया जाता है। Final Selection Score निर्धारित Main Examination और Interview Weightage के आधार पर तैयार किया जाता है। उम्मीदवारों को Provisional Allotment और Joining से पहले Document Verification तथा अन्य आवश्यक Formalities भी पूरी करनी होती हैं।

Participating Banks, Vacancies, Post-Wise Eligibility, Examination Dates, Subjects, Selection Rules, Interview Requirements और अन्य Recruitment Conditions को Official IBPS Notifications या Corrigenda के माध्यम से बदला या Update किया जा सकता है। इसलिए उम्मीदवारों को आवेदन करने या कोई महत्वपूर्ण निर्णय लेने से पहले हमेशा Official IBPS Website पर नवीनतम जानकारी Verify करनी चाहिए।
