What are Defence Exams?
Defence recruitment and entrance examinations provide entry into the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force and related defence organisations. Different entries have different educational qualifications, age limits, written subjects, physical standards, medical requirements and selection stages.
Major Defence Examinations
NDA & NA
UPSC examination for admission to the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy. Entry is mainly for candidates after 12th.
CDS
UPSC Combined Defence Services examination for graduate-level entry to IMA, INA, Air Force Academy and OTA.
AFCAT
Indian Air Force officer-entry examination for eligible graduate candidates in notified branches.
Indian Army Agniveer
Recruitment for notified Agniveer categories such as General Duty, Technical, Clerk/Store Keeper Technical and other notified categories.
Indian Navy Agniveer SSR
10+2-based Navy entry with prescribed Mathematics and Physics requirements and other eligibility conditions.
Indian Navy Agniveer MR

NCERT is not compulsory for every Defence examination. It is especially useful for building basic Science, History, Geography and Physics/Chemistry concepts.
